FitMoney Fellows at Tufts

Our passion to promote financial literacy among students extends well beyond our own campus.

In 2021, we partnered with the nonprofit organization FitMoney to create a first-of-its-kind outreach program. We connect Tufts students with high school classrooms throughout the Northeast to teach financial literacy workshops and promote meaningful relationships.

What We Do as a Nonprofit

Our initiative matches college students with local high school classrooms. As only slightly older peers, the Fellows are in a unique position to connect with students and act as near-to-peer mentors. Our Fellows speak from their personal experiences, discussing major changes they faced after high school graduation and what they wish they had known or done differently as they began to navigate college.

Our Curriculum

Designed by college students with input from teachers, our curriculum provides comprehensive training in a variety of personal finance topics through interactive and engaging workshops. Discussion, facilitated by hands-on activities, is paramount to our workshops. Schools can choose from a fully customizable set of up to eight modules.

We currently offer two curriculums. Our basic curriculum is often preferred by teachers in financial literacy classrooms and provides a comprehensive discussion of core financial literature concepts, including a brief introduction to investing.

We also provide an investing-focused curriculum. This curriculum has historically been preferred by investment clubs; however, it would also work well for a financial literacy classroom. These modules are:
